Mike and Sindy met, fell in love and were married in Seattle, Washington in 2004. Shortly there after, Sindy took Mike to her home on Ometepe to meet her family, who have lived on the island for generations. Mike instantly formed an attachment to the island and the people of Nicaragua.

Mike y Sindy se conocieron y se enamoraron en Seattle Washington, se casron en 2014. Al corto tiempo que Sindy llevo a Mike a la isla a conocer su familia, quienes viven ahi por generaciones. Mike instantaneamente entro en contacto con la isla y el pueblo nicaraguense.

Mike and Sindy started buying the property that is now Finca Sirena in early 2006.
